Initial reaction –
Getting
off of the plane of the plane and driving down to our “house” was, to be
honest, a bit of a disappointment. I
really didn’t feel like I was in another country, instead I felt like I was in
a poor, southern city. I expected this
beautiful untouched land, but instead I saw a loud, busy road and a Pizza
Hut. I really didn’t feel as if I had
left home. But then I woke up the next
morning and saw the sun rising over the ocean and I knew I was in
paradise. I had never seen water so blue
and all the blended colors in the sky.
It was surreal. Every morning for
the three weeks of orientations I would wake up at 6 and jog along the ocean
while watching the sunrise. It really is
everything I expected and more. This is
paradise.
